Make a Plan Before You Go

  1. Choose a Designated Driver

Decide who will drive before anyone starts drinking. Your designated driver should remain completely sober.

  2. Have a Backup Ride

Check Uber, Lyft, or local taxi options before going out. Make sure you have enough money for the ride.

  3. Choose Someone You Can Call

Identify a trusted friend or family member who can help if your plans change.

  4. Plan a Safe Place to Stay

If you cannot arrange a safe ride, stay where you are or arrange safe accommodations.

Make your transportation plans while you’re still thinking clearly, before drinking or using anything that could impair your ability to drive.

Alcohol, cannabis, and certain medications can affect your ability to drive safely.

Remember: One decision can change a life forever. Make yours a safe one.
