One Decision Can Change

a Life Forever

A True Story of Survival, Forgiveness, Advocacy, and Faith.

On July 30, 2014, I was an excited 18 year-old kid. Just six weeks after graduating from high school, I was living at a firehouse in Oregon as a student firefighter responding to calls preparing for school and working toward becoming a full-time firefighter paramedic.

Unfortunately, somebody made a choice to drive drunk, which ended up taking away my choice of becoming a firefighter. My life changed forever when I was involved in a head-on collision caused by an impaired driver. I survived a severe traumatic brain injury, facial fractured that took away my sense of smell and sight from my right eye, and amputations on my right hand. Through recovery, perseverance, faith, and forgiveness, I discovered the power of second chances. Today I share my story in the hope that one decision might save another person’s life.

I survived by the grace of God, who orchestrated an amazing rescue that saved my life. I’m using my second chance to make a difference in ending impaired driving so nobody has to suffer, lose their life, or lose a loved one. I am Jack Fletcher and this is my true story.
